Crochet cushion covers

This is what it looks like ..

I got this idea from my mother in law’s excellent skills of crochet. She was making dresses for Anya. I thought what if we make a square in crochet and apply a bright background to it.

To tell you the truth I am not sure what I was going in for. I had no clue coz I had never seen any crochet cushion before. Online I may have seen some but they were just simple crochet covers not attached to the fabric. So i was going to try something new. A bit excited and a bit nervous coz I didn’t want her effort to go in vain.

Here is how you do it:

Step 1: Make sure the fabric is washed and ironed.

Step 2: Make a crochet piece 1-2 in smaller . I was lucky to have my mom in law for this part 🙂 I may want to learn crochet in future but may be not this time.

Step 3: Pin the front facing part of the fabric to all 4 sides of crochet. Strech the crochet piece while doing this  part. This one is the trickiest coz crochet part will shrink.

Step 4: Sew on all four sides with 1/2 inch seam.

Step 5: Take this as the front piece and now you can follow either Basic cushion cover technique to sew the cover or zippered one.

Tip: Once you sew it the cushion will look deformed to you . I was pretty bummed when i saw it but as soon as you fit in the cushion you will be amazed on how good it looks 🙂

Making this was a boost to our confidence. Both me and my mom in law were thrilled and we were just making rounds to our living room an en excuse to look at our creation 🙂

Hope you guys have fun time making this as well. I will surely be making more and sharing pics as i make it.
