Decorative Pillows

Just like any other girl I am crazy about decorative pillows. They add such a nice warmth and make your home unique. Since in the US pillows are pretty expensive and really boring and one problem I found was its pretty hard to buy just a pillow cover.

Now I don’t have a palace to store all these beddings and pillows and it was getting really unmanageable. So I took things in my own hands. The idea struck me!

If I can make a dress I can certainly make a pillow cover. I went to Joann fabric store and got myself a really nice home decor fabric. Sometimes I wonder at my confidence 🙂 Even though I never ever made any cushion/pillow cover before, I went straight away with home decor fabric and not with any random cotton cloth. For me, it’s very important to be excited while I am working in which I get looking at nice fabrics and imagining how it would look in my living room or family room.

The first time I try something I prefer people not looking at me or waiting in anticipation. Somehow I have noticed that the pressure gets onto me. So I took my chance when my husband was out with parents.

And surprisingly it came out good. Here is the picture of my first ever cushion cover.

And that was just the start. I felt I found a gem 😀 I don’t have to waste money anymore and I felt bad on why this idea didn’t hit me before and all the bills I spent decorating my home with pillows came running through my mind and they still do 🙂

The more I dug into pillow making, the more I realized that the possibilities of customizing the pillows and designing and making something unique are endless.

Till now I have made about 30-40 cushion covers, some for myself and some as a gift.

Here are just a few of them:
